Actually healthy ways of losing weight may lower blood pressure like better diet and exercise. Although resistance training is better for losing weight, cardio helps with this also but is better for lowering blood pressure, but resistance training will not hurt it. See site below for info on both.

Go for free hand exersixes, at 40 if u have never exersixed beofre u will find it tough to do weight training.
Free hand exersixes are the best exersixes to do. and i recommened it to everyone. Drink lots of water and reduce fatty and oily foods in yr diet. Avoid smoking, drinking etc. Just think that u r fit and start working towards it.
Try simple things intially like climb stairs instead of lifts. Walk bare foot on gree grass in the morning. Do jogging in the evening.
All this will help to regain yr fitness. So best of luck!

Iama fitness trainer and u can contact me on tutul_chakraborti@yahoo.com
