I looked this up in a psychology database and one of the studies I found concluded that there was little or no relationship between intelligence and belief in superstitions. It was an old study (1931) and I could not find any more recent ones. I find the result somewhat surprising, as intelligent people tend to be more educated, and so I would think they would be less superstitious. On the other hand, superstitious beliefs are usually motivated by emotional needs, rather than intellectual ones, so I suppose even intelligent people might endorse unfounded beliefs that meet their needs, e.g. the need to believe that we live in a just world and that events occur for a reason rather than just happening randomly.
