If I have a girl I want to name her Elle Josephine. I really like the idea of using middle names as first names so I'm thinking of calling her "Jo"...what do you think? Too complicated? I really think that Jo is a better name for a little girl. I have to use the name Josephine so I thought about making it Josephine Elle--but I don't like that. Any suggestions?

Elle is beautiful in my opinion, but I've always thought the same thing as the first answer I got...it's a little too sophisticated & formal for a little girl

Adding a third name might be good but I can't think of any that really go well with Elle Josephine. What about having Josephine and something else as the first names and Elle the middle name?

I like Elle Josephine better than Josephine Elle. Going by the middle name might be a bit confusing at first I would think but it may not. I've never had anyone in my family go by their middle name so I dont know if it'd be hard or not.

Elle Josephine is really good because if she needs to be formal, for work, or anything else, she can be that, or if she just wants to be a kid, and have fun, she can go with Jo, and that sounds really great too>!>! good idea -danielle-

Don't care for Elle. Josephine is nice, and Jo is cute for a girl.

Being called by your middle name can be confusing throughout your life. Especially as an adult when documents and forms result in people calling you by your first name because they don't come with a foot note. However, it can come in handy when someone ask for you by your first name and you know they don't really know you. Truth is, most people don't like their given names anyway. Personally, I think Elle Josephine is very pretty no matter what you call her.

I think Elle is a beautiful name, it reminds me of a princess or a fairy tale or something. As for Josephine..my old bosses name was Josephine and i didn't much like her, so naturally I dont' like the name either.

If you want a third name "Josephine _____ Elle" I would have the second name be something that could have elle at the end; such as Dana, Jean, etc. My grandma has four names and her second names are George and Etta (Georgetta). Good luck!

Fashionable classics are always safe, instead of trendy names like Scott (from the 60's) and Amber (from the 80's). Be careful that she doesn't grow up being called Jo-Elle!
