How do you feel about americans?

What do you think about American CULTURE or the GENERAL population?? (not about individuals)


I've heard remarks like: self absorbed, selfish, spoiled, arrogant, cruel, greedy, mean, and not hospitable..from friends and acquaintances who have recently immigrated or have had contact with American citizens..How close are these remarks to the sentiments in your country??

Not looking for answers from American citizens..unless you are an ex-patriot..

(Does anyone remember that American citizens donate the most to world charities?)

Like other nationalities, some are good some are bad! Depends. I like Americans because they are friendly, open, direct, go getter but they can be too full of themselves, too patriotic and often feel they are the best.

There are black sheep everywhere, but what I notice about most Americans is that they are always too busy and never have time to sit and talk, relax and enjoy a meaningful conversation as in Europe. Always discussing shallow topics like the weather, food or money... Few seem to read books or care what is going on around them, taking their well-being for granted.
But then, this is a country of almost 300mln people, so you there are many deep and interesting people, as well. I also know there is a big difference between southerners and the "yanks", the east and west...
About charities...US citizens are the richest, Hollywood alone can rebuild Africa if they wanted to...

they;re great, it's sad that people generalie everything and just because they have an idiot of a president (bush) doesn't mean that all of the americans are like him!
