Anu was the head Annuanki god of the Sumerians and Babylonians. The ancient Sumerian text is the oldest writings ever found and tell the original story.
Anu was the head god of the heavens and sometimes referred to as invisible. Ea was a lesser god underneath Anu, some believe from the interpretations of the texts that he was one of Anu's sons, the eldest. I believe he was called Ea in the Babylonian texts and Eniki in the Sumerian texts but is the same person. He was the god of the Sea in the Babylonian texts and of the Earth in the Sumerian texts.
His brother El (in Babylonian) and Enili in Sumerian was the god of the skies (Sumerian) and Lord of the mountain, (Babylonian), and he was the leader of the lesser gods on earth.
It is believed that there was always a rivalry between Enili and Eniki because Eniki was the eldest but Enili was given the title of leader by their father Anu because his mother was his father's half sister so he had the most pure bloodline as was the customer, Anu had 2 wives.
In the epic of Giglamesh, (Babylonian version), Enili was the god that created the flood to kill mankind and Ea (Eniki), was the god that was questioning after the flood had receded as to why he had to create a flood, to kill mankind. He said why didn't you cause lions so come and devour mankind, or send a plague or feminine instead. Incidentally this is also in the bible in Ezek. xiv. 12-20, however there is it changed to be a conversation between Noah and God, but the Sumerian version is the oldest and was written first so it had to have come from this story.
It is also believed that these same gods were the Egyptian gods with different names.
There is another theory called the ancient astronaut theory that claims that these Sumerian gods were ancient astronauts that came from the Sirius solar system and were worshiped as gods on earth.
This theory says that Anu was the high leader that stayed on his planet and had radio contact. His sons and others went to earth to mine for gold to repair their damaged atmosphere. After many years of hard work mining for gold the rank and file Annuanki mutinied against the leaders. So Eniki (Ea) who was the chief scientist and doctor agreed to create a slave race to WORK for them with the help of his sister.
He took an egg from a primitive earth ape/woman and fertilized it with the semen from an Annuanki male and created a test tube baby. Supposedly, he created several different versions of this race (primitive men), before finally adding more Annuanki DNA and creating the Adapa which was a proto type (first of his kind), which was Adam. Then he created Eve from Adam's DNA.
Supposedly, Enili was wanting more workers to till the ground in the Annaunki compound, which is where they all lived without the humans (this garden of Eden), and stole Adam and Eve from the place in Africa were Eniki was creating the new race.
Supposedly, Enili became the god in the Old Testament, and the creator, Eniki became Satan, (Satan means adversary), and a snake was the symbol for wisdom and medicine. Enili was mad at Eniki for creating this new race because he had added the Annuanki DNA and made them intelligent and able to reproduce on their own which was not acceptable to Enili who wanted them to stay dumb slaves.
There are stories in the Sumerian texts that tell how Eniki created the Adapa, and how the gods called for the Adapa to meet with them and Eniki told Adapa that if they offered him fruit from the Tree of knowledge not to eat it because it would be poisoned and cause him to die. But the gods offered him the fruit from the Tree of life instead and he refused thinking it was poisoned and because of this missed out on immortality and was destined to die.

Yes ANU is the Sumerian God in the Enuma Elish and the Gilgamesh tablet which were written in Cuneiform. These tablet pre-dates the so-called bible by thousands of years they contain the Noah(untafihim) story and much much more. Check out Zechariah sitchom.
