There is a lot of things you can do to prepare yourself for pregnancy. Perhaps the most important is that you take folic acid supplements for at least a month before you plan to become pregnant. Folic acid prevents spina bifida which is a potentially fatal illness in children.
You should also cut out alcohol and caffeine from your diet. Both are not recommended during pregnancy. If you are a smoker, or use illegal drugs, you should also eliminate that from your life style. Both are exceptionally harmful to the unborn child.
If you are overweight, or underweight, it is best to get to a healthy weight range before you conceive. This is because, during pregnancy, a woman should gain 10-13kg.
If you are deficient in iron, you should also get that sorted out, perhaps by taking an iron supplement.
You should also request blood tests from your doctor, to make sure that you don't have any diseases that could be harmful to your child. At this time, you could also get your blood group tested. Also, you could request immunisations that will help protect you and your child from becoming sick whilst pregnant.
You should also begin an exercise regime. This is because, when pregnant it is best not to do any more exercise that you did previously, as it may be too strenous for an unfit person. The fitter you are before pregnancy, the fitter you can be whilst you are pregnant.
I'm going to include the link to a trying to conceive and pregnancy forum that I think you might find useful. It really helps to research trying to conceive methods, before you embark on that journey. The forum is full of supportive women, with boundless knowledge about these issues. I learnt so much there that I doubt I would have learnt otherwise. I hope you sign up!

Get into shape!! If you are overweight try to lose and if you are underweight you need to get to a healthy weight. Also you can buy prenatal vitamins over the counter. Not only are they good for during pregnancy but they are excellent for before and after too. Just read to make sure the vitamin you choose has a good amount of folic acid as it helps to prevent birth defects. A good diet full of fresh fruits and veggies and lean meats also helps. Good luck and take care.

Continue to exercise or start, need to strengthen those stomack muscles
Don't try to worry about if you conceived or not

Like everyone before me said, talk to your doctor (preferably your Ob/Gyn) and you'll both go through the list of what you should and should not do.
You should start preparing yourself at least one year ahead of the pregnancy in order to give your body and the baby a great start.
There are many website that cater to pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post pregnancy. I liked the ivillage version best. Good Luck

Let your doctor know that you are trying to get pregnant, and they will give you a prenatal vitamin. Ask your doctor about any medications that you are taking, you may need to stop them. Stop smoking, doing any drugs, drinking alcohol, and caffeine. Eat as healthy as you can and if you do light exercise (even just walking) before and during your pregnancy it will go smoother. Good luck!
ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR!

I would advise to refrain from alcohol consumption, smoking, and drugs. Have a well balanced diet and exercise. Take prenatals because they can be taken prior to becoming pregnant. Also it wouldn't hurt to see your doctor and have a appointment to tell him that you are t/t/c and perhaps he can do an exam and help you with some pointers. Good luck!
