Instant messging is like chatting with someone in real time using typed text rather than vocal words. The person on the other end types messages and presses Enter, and you will see if on your side in less than a second (and vice versa). There are several programs for instant messaging, most of them free. Your selection should be based on which service your friends use the most and which accounts you have (usually you need an email account to access instant messaging). Below, I have given you the links to the three biggest instant messaging services available (all free). Just go to the website, look for instant messaging, and install the program. Then create a email account for that service and ask your friends to signup/give you their existing email from that service. "Add" then are you are set to talk.

it's like some sort of chat-thing. u can e-mail people, but they'll answer in two mins. or two seconds. U can find it in Yahoo Messenger.
