There are two prongs that come out of the back of the freezer area and hook into the ice-mover shaft. The prongs should rotate around and make the shaft turn, but they seem to be frozen in one position.

If it's ice that seems to be jamming it, the hair dryer would be your first line of defense; however, it your icemaker is several years old, has worked just fine most of the time, then your problem is probably mineral build-up from the hard water you make your ice cubes with. Take a look at your ice cubes. If they are crystal clear, you have great, healthful ice cubes. If the cubes are practically white, you have a lot of minerals and "stuff" in your ice. You will need to clean that "gunk" away from the mechanism, put a filter on the water supply, and change the filter regularly, like every few months. Some ice cube trays need to invert and dump the cubes into the box, but because of the mineral build-up, they won't let loose of the cubes, more water just splashes off the fused and stuck cubes. In this case you need to thoroughly clean out the trays of all the adhesive mineral build-up--or purchase new trays and replace the original ones. This is the more common problem with automataic ice makers.

Listen...take a hair blow dryer, high setting- and point it at the ice maker for a few minutes.....it will melt down the jammed ice......and anything else that might be frozen stiff. Have fun...oh and no styling brush is needed.
