Not necessarily, especially if you are the type of person who can start a business and make a success of it or if you are very creative or enterprising. However, if you are counting on being employed by someone else the college degree will make a lot of difference - hundreds of thousands of $$$$ probably over your lifetime. And it is something no one can take away from you ... once you have it, you have it. It will open far more doors for you than will be open without the degree.

Most big corporations only hire professionals with a college degree. But you can still earn good money in the trades such as as a power linesman, electrician, welder, etc., which doesn't require a degree. Or join the police force or be a fireman. Or if your father owns a company or business, you don't have to worry about a degree!

It sure helps.
I work in the staffing industry and people with a college degree start at higher salaries and tend to make more money over a lifetime than noncollege graduates.
Even better, an advanced degree (Masters or higher) increases earning potential exponentially.
Good Luck!
