I have my first audition for a lead in a feature film, but my experience is mostly in stage. Do I need to memorize the sides? Is there anything I should know before going into the audition? Is there usually a camera at the first audition? Anything I should or shouldn't wear? I'm thinking of jeans and a blazer (the part is for a business woman). Any tips specific to film would be great!

Get yourself a copy of the book "Audition" by Michael Shurtleff. Of all the books I've read about it, this still offers the best advice.

confident - i understand various expert actors, and maximum fo them are quite shy - yet on the degree or in front of a digital camera, they are no longer being themselves, so there is not any shyness. Do attempt appearing - yet what your sister says, and loving video clips - meaning no longer something in any respect. It takes extensive skills, some years of educating and much extra of having unpaid experience. the only thank you to verify in case you do have any skills is to connect a solid appearing class, and after a on a similar time as, connect a close by community theatre to place what you have discovered into practice. the different element you relatively do would desire to devise in improve is your 2d occupation. the main paid artwork that virtually all of actors ever get is two or 3 weeks a year, so which you relatively would desire to have adequate skills and skills to get an 'elementary' activity so which you would be able to arise with the money for to pay your lease, expenses, return and forth, nutrition, etc. lots of the actors i understand have loose-lance jobs which they do self-employed, so it leaves them loose to take day without work for the occasional appearing activity, rehearsals, auditions, etc. working for an business employer potential which you will purely save getting fired! go on - provide it a attempt! solid success!

Dress and groom appropriate to the part. You should be able to memorize a few lines so you can keep your focus away from the script for at least a few moments. Most likely you will be fed lines and be taped. You will likely have to imagine whomever you are supposed to be speaking to.

Remember not to be too big, but really focus on the moment.
