May I ask if it is a laptop or desktop? If it is a laptop, the problem is probably that the system is overheating (especially during high bandwidth activities such as gaming), and the ROM automatically shuts it down to avoid damage to the CPU or other hardware. Overheating is often found in newer faster laptops carrying Pentium 4 or 4w/HT or Celeron since the faster the system is, the more heat generated. This can be solved by making changing your system settings in your control panel to performance, not quality (and try to not overclock your CPU). As well, you can by a cooling dock for your laptop at any major electronics store for under $30 US, varying in sizes.

However if it is a desktop, I could think of two reasons at the top of my head. 1 is that there is not a sufficient power source, especially if you are running too many hardware items. Or 2, you could have a virus or program that automatically shuts you down after perfoming a series of tasks.

Might be helpful to mention your type of pc, operating system, any message that shows beforehand if any, or other information.

you should check your power settings. you can set your moniter, hard disk drive, or entire computer to shut down after certain amounts of time. you may have accidentally set it to shut down your pc. to go control panel, then power options and check your settings. that may be whats causing your troubles. hope this helps.
