It depends on the infractions --- is the behavior repetitive? was he sincere (remorseful)? Is he willing to do anything to correct his inappropriate behavior? A lot of thought goes into giving someone another chance --- never do something if it's not your true desire --- in or words don't do it for the kids --- because you are the one who has to live and deal with them personally and intimately. My first husband made a lot of bad decisions and I gave him many chances to improve --- many times he did. When he started having an affair I would of given him another chance but he'd didn't want to end it - so we got divorced.
I don't use the 3 strikes rule(that's reserved for criminals) --- relationships deserve all the chances both parties are willing to give them --- make sincere efforts to retain your relationship.

With most things I believe people deserve second chances - people aren't perfect and do make mistakes. In circumstances that aren't major perhaps a person might merit more than 3 chances at forgiveness. For major things I like to stick to the 2 or 3 strike rule.

In a relationship give absolutely NO second chances when physical or mental abuse or cheating is involved to you or your children. Give as many chances as it takes to work it out when love is involved. In other cases the one, two ,three strike rule is good.

It all depends on the situation where you messed up. Sometimes once is way too many in certain categories. Such as death, abuse etc. If it's cheating then thats another thing because that really depends on wether or not they are going to be trustworthy enough to be faithful or not. There are just too many things people can do, I personally believe a second chance is a given, providing like I said before it doesn't involve abuse or anything. But beyond that, you can be on your own as far as I'm concerned.

This question has no real answer. Idealy love should be unconditional, mutal and respected by both parties involved. Realistically people cope with issues in a relationship by what they have witnessed or experienced in their own indivual lives.
My advice: We all know about the little things that our partners do that really annoy us that we don't vent or air out immediately with them. Sometimes these things really are magnified when something really big happens that we can't ignore. This is when we as human beings question how much pain, and disappointment can you withstand. This is a time that you reach your threshold and you walk away cause you need too. No one has the right to judge you for either staying or walking away.(All is void if physical abuse exists because you really need to leave in that case.)

it is all up to how much you are willing to take and put up with. if you are IN love you will find that the three strikes rule doesn't always happen you will find excuses to keep the other in your life!!!

No I could only do the one thing. I dated a guy and I kept giving him chance after chance. He kept being an a**hole too. I learned that one chance is all you get!

if he or she has had sexual relations with another say good bye to them & dont look back .He or she is a natural born cheater & will always ask for forgiveness so he or she can do it once more again ,becuz to them if you forgive them the 1st time it's like a child getting slap on the hands for stealing , they will always do it again & again because they feel they can do it again & agian & you'll forgive them time & time again. just say bye bye to them
