In my opinion, IQ can only get you so far. No matter how smart you are, if you're lazy & unmotivated, if you are undisciplined, if you can't think on your feet, if you can't relate to people, then you won't do well!! Thats where EQ comes in...

What I saw during college and again during med school over & over again was students really excelling despite not being the brightest in their class. And i've seen the brightest kids in the class fail. The difference - DISCIPLINE. I really feel strongly that how HARD you work makes the biggest difference in where you go. This is a part of EQ.
EQ is extremely important. It encompasses motivation, self-esteem, assertiveness, and other "intangibles" that are so critical. EQ is especially valuable in social settings like with your family and friends, and its critical in socially oriented professions such as business & real estate to name a few.

I think people have had an unspoken, intuitive understanding of EQ for a lot longer than we realize. Ever heard the saying, "He's got a good head on his shoulders"? Thats what EQ is all about.....
