Hard to pick one. So I picked many.
Rocky ( underdog story)
The Sure Thing (best John Cusack movie)
Casablanca
When Harry met Sally (Funny and Romantic)
Groundhog Day (Bill Murray is funny)
Brian's Song (Underdog story that is true)
As Good as it Gets (great story)
One flew over the Cuckoo's Nest
Annie Hall (Woody at his best)
The In-Laws (Alan Arkin and Peter Sellers version) maybe the funniest movie ever made.
A fish called wanda (polically incorrect and funny)
Network--(powerful movie about tv)
Shakespear in Love (Clever)
I second, "Cool Hand Luke"

This year, the best movie so far is "Thank you for Smoking"

Vertigo. It's an incredible artistic masterpiece, and the visionary Alfred Hitchcock's most profound and personal work. It is a tale of love, death, guilt and obsession, and it features excellent and surreal cinematography and camera work, great San Francisco scenery, and a frightening, career-best performance from the terrific actor James Stewart

I am going to have to go with "The Pink Panther". The one with Steve Martin. Oh, that movie was so hilarious! Steve Martin must have spent MONTHS getting the right accent. The tricks and jokes in that movie were absolutely priceless!

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, simply because I've always been a huge Star Wars nut, and TESB is my favorite out of them all!

Cool Hand Luke. I love the oldies. This movie shows a regular guy go from regular joe, to chain gang hero.....lots of classic lines in this movie too....

For instance: "What we have here is....failure....to communicate..."

Used in a Guns n Roses song in the 80's.

My favorite movie is Sunset Blvd. bacause I love Gloria Swanson and her character in the movie is so real and livid. Norma Desmond has real problems and, like many, is trying to neglect reality.

Return to Paradise with Vince Vaughn. It really makes you think how far you would go to sacrifice your life to help a friends. I mean would you go to prison for your crime to help save your friends life or would you let him hang for a crime you were a part of? The agony of chosing which and it's consequences make you wonder what you would do in that situation.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I like it because it is just pure silliness, and it is a good diversion from all of the stress of day to day life.
