My dog ran away about a week ago and last night I got a crank call with someone asking about the reward for my dog. All I got were a few words and then he hung up. So what are the best questions to be asked?

If you didn't post an award amount then don't give an amount until after you are reunited with your pet. Ask where the dog was found. Ask something about your pet that only you would know if it was true or not. (like if they have a patch of colored hair somewhere or one black toe nail) --- and see what they say. Meaning.. you can ask if it has all black toe nails except one on the back paw, even if your pet doesn't have one. Don't have them bring the pet to you. You go to them, or meet them in a public place.

Sorry about your dog going missing. Mine was gone for 4 days and I found him at the golf course, after posting 75 dollars worth of missing posters... I did find him... So, don't lose hope.

If you have someone that can go w/you to meet this person (in a public place) then I'd ask to see the dog... Did he say he had your dog? You should call back and be direct. Like: Do you have my dog?
If he says, "yes" then I'd demand to see the dog to make sure it's your dog... Do not give money until you KNOW it's your dog and until YOUR dog is in your arms.

If all else fails, call the police and give them his number.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Ask about any distinguishing details your dog might have so that you'll know for sure that it's there i.e. eye color, breed, size, etc. If they ask why all the questions, just say it's just a precaution because of the crank call.

I would say to ask for a very detailed description: an estimate of size/weight, coloring, any tags or collars, if the dog responds to any kind of behavior or names, etc. You might want to ask trick questions, like, "Is the dog is wearing a tag with the name Lucky on it?", or something that you know is false. See how the person answers.

I think you'd just have to go around and see the dog with your own eyes. Why beat around the bush when it could be your pet....if a reward was offered, then I guess you'll have to cough up, although people really shouldn't expect financial gain from finding a lost pet

no they should tell u what sort of dog it is and if it sounds right then give them a fact eg like his front right paw is white. But if they can't even described what sort of breed he is it's probably a prank. I hope u get your dog back.

Don't question, just go there. If your phone records numbers all you have to do is Google the number and his address could appear. To Google a phone number you enter it as such: (zip code) 999-9999
