Buy a box of candy. Eat the candy and replace it with a wash cloth, a bar of soap and an antiperspirant/deodorant. Leave it in his room, or on his desk, where he will be sure to find it. Just don't let him know you put it there.

Be careful with this. Some guys (and girls) are allergic to soap...using soap makes them sweat more when they're out of the shower and makes them stink....
I'm not saying your guy has this....but be nice....we all take showers....
Maybe you could mention this out loud about your "relative" that is allergic and see if he responds....

Say something like this, "TAKE A SHOWER YOU SMELL!!!"
hmm...maybe not...try... opening with a question "I like to take a shower everday because I love feeling clean, what about you?" if he says he doesn't shower that often. Suggest that he should

Just kinda sniff around...and if he askes what you are doing...say, there's this really bad smell, and then get close to him and then squint your eyes like they burn and gag. I think he'll get the idea.

Just tell him. Most guys don't appreciate/don't understand it if you beat around the bush.
