how can I get spell check to work on outlook express 6?

The spell check in Outlook Express 6 only checks your document once you click the send button to send a message. You turn on spell check, misspelled words according to its dictionary will be underlined by a pink dotted line as you type and when you click send it will prompt you to relace each one with suggestions.
