Yes a pad worn any amount of time while having your period can produce an unpleasant odor. As your period starts to end and you get the more brownish color blood on your pad then the odor can become stronger. The odor is mainly confined to your pad and panty area, when it's hot out I have been able to smell my pad when I'm moving around a lot. I've started wearing Stayfree maxi pads with odor neutralizer and they are great on reducing odor.

You need to change the pads every 2 hours or yes, it will stink. Dead flesh and blood immediately rots, that is why your body expels it, holding rotting matter near your warm moist body produces a scent very close to death. This is another reason that women during their cycles were considered as 'unclean' as a dead body. See science and religion can co-exist!

It's blood. Blood is smelly. If you use good hygene (bathe daily, change your pad pretty often) no one else should smell it. Otherwise, yes!!! A nasty girl on the rag is a horrid thing to encounter!!!!
