Michelosen may be the head coach I was thinking of. There was another (maybe Linebacker or O-line coach whose name began with a P.

Joe Paterno, no wait, he was Penn State.

As for Bear Bryant, he was the legendary coach at University of Alabama winning the National Championship 6 times, with a record of 323-85-17. He was also the coach from "Junction Boys" which refers to the Texas A&M football team in 1954 when they were at the bottom of the conference for over a decade.
