Is it Just St. Peter and a gate, is that it? What, nothing actually threatening?

someone above mentioned people not wanting to get into hades. this is incorrect. if you could travel down there, Hades would usually grant such a brave warrior a request. an example is when that guy with the harp wanted his wife back, but he had to walk out without looking behind him. as soon as he stepped out, he looked behind him, but his wife hadn't left yet.

also, heracles (hercules), needed to get into hades at least once, i forget how many times, and needed to wrestle the dog.

i don't know anything about mothra, sorry about that. didn't godzilla have a big fly swatter or something?

in the norse thoughts, heimdall guarded the rainbow bridge to asgard, which is where valhalla was located. he guarded it from giant attacks, and the like. he also watched to see who left, and why.

onto St. Peter

he's not a guard. he simply keeps the gates. that is, he writes in his book who passes and doesn't. he doesn't make the choices, he reads from the book, and then marks who came to him, and where they went. there is nothing to guard the gate from.

lucifer is not satan. lucifer is a fallen angel that is tormented just as any other sinner. satan is the keeper of hell. all he does is maintain that the sinners do not leave, and that they remain forever tormented. why would god increase his adversary's army? just because he is all powerful, and could swipe them away with the flick of a finger?

the reason god doesn't simply destroy hell is because hell is needed. i've always been of the belief that god rules over hell as well as heaven. they are both his own creations. they are both where his subjects go. like i said, god would not send people to a place where they are going to riot back against him, because he could easily destroy them.

think about it.

if there was to be someone that would attack heaven, you would assume it would be lucifer, correct? lucifer was already thrown to hell with not so much as a battle, what would make him stronger? would he have troops, those that god sent to hell?

it just doesn't make sense, unless god rules over ALL, including hell

i am aware that many people won't like what i wrote, but you must remember, this is my own opinion

I think the guardian of hell (Cerberus) is more there to keep people in, than to keep people out- I really don't think too many people want to get there. Heaven on the other hand, is not a place a person would want to leave. It's also open to anyone who is willing (and able) to receive forgiveness. That's almost everyone, because the majority of us aren't mass murderers or terrorists.
