Fingernails grow at a rate of 3mm per month. It takes 6 months for a nail to grow from the root to the free edge.

A week see if you notice your's is not growing because you either chew on it or use nail filer. Also if you wash dishes or something that involves breaking the nails then it will take longer to grow, but the average time for nails to grow is about a week.Don't worry if you dont have long nails because short nails are better and color them then they will be fine, so you don't have to worry about breaking a nail. And some girls have long nails but they may be fake so get fake long nails at stores or do a your nails at the mall.

If they are right down to the skin, it will feel like it takes forever. Put clear nail polish on them - L'Oreal Grow Stronger - and check in one week and you'll see the white under your nails. Make sure you keep them clean by scrubbing!

I have bitten my nail for over 40 yrs. I let them grow for a year once just to see if I could. It took about 3 mths for them to get over the initial skock of "growing" .At 6 mths I could tap them on the counter.
Good Luck

Your hair grows about150mm a year, which is about the same length as your foot.
Your fingernails can grow between 26-50mm per year. That’s about the length of your first finger.
Your toenails grow about 12mm a year. That’s about the length of a fingernail from base to tip.
So hair grows about 3 times faster than your fingernails and your fingernails grow about 4 times faster than your toenails.

Your nails grow constantly. you will see results in about a week if you stop now, and they should be ready to shape in about 3 weeks. Try chewing gum instead of your nails. it may help.

i've always had long scraggly nails. but then i clipped them really short. it was so weird, i just HAD to have them back. so i couldn't bear to chew them. They came back a few weeks later as long as they were. and by then i was closer to breaking the habit and they looked so nice, all the same length, i just stopped. for some people, keeping them painted works too, the paint in your mouth is just disgusting.
