In my opinion traffic tickets seem to be primarily after your money. Fining you various and unreasonable amounts of money such as 500 dollars for no turn signal but 230 for speeding in school zone. Shouldn't they rather make you go to a traffic class probate or suspend you license for a while, wouldn't that be more relevant and effective to take away one's driving privilages than to hit you in the pocket whichs hurts the economy and making people get desperate to scrap for money and have to appear in court six weeks later only to end up paying the fine?

What could bring order out out chaos on the roads faster than heavily fining or jailing morons who endanger the lives of others.

Oh, I know! Higher insurance rates which also often result from the actions of fool hardy drivers.

I'd double the fines if I was Dictator for a Day to let the stupid people drive themselves to the poorhouse.

if you do not violate the laws, then you'll have no problems
it's easy picking for cops, quota or not
to the degree that they crack down on enforcement depends on the driver, the profile ( yes they do profile ), the drivers attitude ( I have escaped a few tciket with just a warning ), recenty accidents in the area ( as that willbring crackdowns ). People in general are poor drivers, with most of that going towards the young ( hence why they deserve the higher rates ) , the single ( married people statistically have less tickets ), the type of car you drive ( you drive a h/o red mustand, expect tickets period ).. ect
all these factors making traffic enforcemnt rather easy for the cops, everyone speeds, noone obeys the posted speed limits, but it's those guys who make sharp turns, who weave.. ect.. who get ticketed... and very few are honest when tye do get pulled over for there given offenses, most lie or play dumb, and cops know it and show no mercy when they write the ticket. Sure you have cops with attitude.. but you can discount for that as well.

Are they ethical yes.... You as the driver did something wrong so you should pay for it, rather literal or figuratively. On that note though it should be better regulated. Each city and county has it's own fees and rates for tickets. You are right, speeding in a school zone should be more money than not using your blinker, but both offenses could cause an accident or death. I think that courts should order community service for tickets. Giving back to the city is better than draining already overloaded pocket books.

I think they are. A lot of people (including me) cannot afford to pay these tickets, so will try to drive more safely. For others who can financially afford the tickets, after a certain amount of tickets, it can go on your license, and if there are enough one could even have his or her license suspended or revoked.

Well, there is no doubt they are after the money 1st,

But some of the high fines remind me to be aware. I think most younger people could care less!

How do you think they pay for more patrol cars to catch more speeders?
