Why is it that guys typically (meaning that not all) chose their girlfriends over their best friend(s), even if they have known their best friend(s) longer. Does this typically happen with women alot?

typically, i think most men want to hold on to their girlfriend and they know that their friend will last forever, but the girlfriend may leave if she's not satisfied with his performance as a boyfriend

Oh it definitely happens with women. I've had tons of friends ditch me completely for boyfriends...even guys they've just gone on a date with. I'm not a fan of it.
