I think the younger generations now days are highly unaware of the world around them, and therefore tend to be really selfish and ungrateful. If they only knew the suffering that occurs daily, the tragedies that have already happened, and the genocides that have been committed, they just might realize how good they've got it. It really bothers me when girls complain about not getting a $400 designer bag, when it costs $200 to save a child's life in Africa for 7 years. I just don't get it ... am I the only one?

Since you put the question in context - yes, that sort of selfish bitching and moaning bothers me enormously.
A girl actually posted a question on here (I answered it), asking how she could break her television and make it look like an accident, so her father would buy her a newer one. I almost fell on the floor.

That said, complaining about poor service, which seems to be the norm these days, is our only defense against the utter lack of respect shown to the customer by businesses. Unfortunately, it is the disinterested clerk who hears most of it.

Yes, complaining is incredibly irritating. I have to pull myself up sometimes when I start to 'carry on', then hear myself. It does sound ungrateful and petulant. I'm pretty sure the 'younger generations' you speak of (of which I might just scrape in) are absolutely aware that there are so many less fortunate people than themselves and that they are in a position to help, and that it could be so rewarding. They simply couldn't care less. I'm not sure this will ever stop. I believe in being the best person that I can be and choose to associate with those who are like-minded. But, the complainers...well, haven't we all been one from time to time?

We came such a long way in the 60s and 70s.
Now, every time i put on the TV I am looking at young people who all mostly look like spares from a bad porno moovie.
The problem that you mention is world wide - we live in an age of selfishness.
I hate to sound like my parents but - Bring back the good old days.
Thanks for your question..
