Some of the reason was that Eisenhower built the interstate highways. It was innovative for a repuglican to actually do anything for the country. The Korean war was partly responsible for it also. But there were many jobs created by both events. There was also a housing shortage creating more jobs. So I would guess that you would say that these circumstances at least contributed to why there was no depression.

Are you asking why there was no economic depression after the Second World War? If so, remember, Europe and Japan needed lots of rebuilding. The American economy switched from producing war materials to consumer goods. The markets were openning, and growth was good.

>>>Well, actually there was depression in parts of the world. hmmmmm . . . . . . the United States just didn't go into another depression because we kept up the war/defense industry. (how to explain this simply??)
>>>After WWI we went into depression because the whole war industry stopped. men weren't employed in the army, and jobs making guns, tanks, planes weren't in demand anymore. But after WWII the U.S. kept the defense factories so that people would still be employed and we sell the excess to other countries and keep stuff in store for ourselves.
>>>It is actually good for a country's economy if they go to war AND WIN. (win being the key word in that sentence.)

ther was no depression like there was in 1929. but america had gone through a few recessions after WW2. our overseas markets essentially helped keep our economy somewhat good during recession periods.
