You and me both.
It will only get more difficult as you go on.
However, there are some strategies you can employ.
Some people find that drawing diagrams can work well.
Some people make up stories or remember one feature and then that can help with remembering others - like freud for example. if you can remember that he was obsessed with sex, that will trigger a lot of memories about the electra complex etcetc.
Whatever you do, psych is not an easy major. But you CAN learn.
It also helps to talk about what you know :) Find questions about theories that you are supposed to know about on yahoo answers :D

Well, it has been awhile and I started off with that major and took several classes. At that point in my life I really had no experience with those ideas or a basis to reflect upon for help.
So I ended up making A's by simply memorizing it. Notes are what teachers go by most often when making out the tests so really take good notes and study those. Read the chapters and skim through the lengthy ones. Know what they expect on the test. Usually they will give you some guidelines for the test and what is expected of you to know. So give them what they want--read it, memorize and regurgitate it. After you think you know the material well, do a brief test on yourself. Type out or write what you know about in relation to it and see if you think that is adequate. I also used a tape recorder to record myself reading my notes aloud and then listening to it later-that helped me to memorize it too(especially for history class).
Just think about the main people first and then what their main belief was. Then go from there. Once you have three memorized by heart, go ahead and memorize the others. You do not have to know it all. Multiple choice can help you narrow it down and open response questions allow you to elaborate on what you do know--if you know enough, you can make a satisfactory statement to back up the question.
Good luck. Remember--take good notes and highlight the main topics in your notes and your book. :)

Personally what works for me is to relate the terms with images, numbers or objects. Try to find some relation or similarities of the terms with some cross-reference item.

There are all kinds of memory techniques (mnemonics, etc.) you can use... but if you are trying to take in a large set of term and concepts, I suggest making flash cards and running drills until you've got it.
