1.Stevie Ray Vaughn-More rythme, soul, better blues, licks and could be a chamileon to any form which to say to all Hendrix fans didn't have.Just imagine if he lived his full life what music he could've presented.A shame,a real shame.
2.Eric Clapton-Yes I know he's gotten mellow with age,but during his lifespan he's covered a lot of styles and innovated a few as well, better writer, plays a kick *** blues, and can't say he's not one of the founders in which rock was made of.
3.Jimmi Hendrix-Okay,from here on out it's brass tacks.Jimmi is what every guitarist inspires to be.The reason why I don't put him as 1 or 2 but the fact is he didn't put live long enough to see if he was as great as they all say he is or was he gonna just burn out.I personally love most of his B-side tracks like "Sandcastles"or "The Wind cried Mary" if you could B-side tracks.Very inutitve writing, great skill, definitly a great guitarist in his time.
4.Jim Croce-Alright people laugh at me when I say this. But I got to say for a folk singer he had not only blues but harmony that was raw. Even in the age when people were glamourising over Led Zepplin,CCR,Lynard Skynard,The Beatles,so on so forth people forgot about the other side of the guitar. It don't have to be hard to be good.He definitly was in a class with George Harrison and John Lennon, yet brought back the funny side of music with his wit.
5.John Lee Hooker-A long forgotten blues player, from the Delta. This Guy set the stage for people like Vaughn,King,Waters. Hard knocks is what it all ends up to be about and this guy had it all.Rythme, blues, balls, and just a damn great talent nufff said!!!!!
Hope you enjoyed the synopsis of this and even if you read it up to this point found it somewhat informitive.hope you enjoyed as much as I did writing it!!!!!!!

Maybe not the greatest technically, but my favourite is Syd Barrett (he did amazingly inventive things with a guitar) followed by Jimi Hendrix.

Gotta go with either Jimmy Page, or Hendrix on this one. Both were great guitarists..both were dynamic in their time.
