California by far has more manufacturing jobs than Arizona. California is the sixth and sometimes the fifth largest economy in the world.
However, don't throw Arizona out for job opportunities. Cost of living is a lot less than in California, and there are a lot of companies moving out of California to Arizona for that and other reasons.

That depends on type of metal-per capita, it may be the same in comparison. I live near the iron, copper, steel plants. We have less people. But, most states have less people than California.
