I had my ears pierced about 7 weeks ago, and just took my original paladium studs out today. I had no infections during the 7 weeks, just some discomfort and alittle bleeding when I turned them. Anyways, today I bought some Sterling Silver small hoops to put in, I heard they were easier to sleep in than studs. I had my bf remove the studs and put the hoops in. It was more painful than the original piercing(done by gun) and bleed some. My questions are: Is it normal that it bled, and will it bleed everytime I change them? Should I leave these in for a while before changing them again? Is the bleeding coming from busting the skin open again, or should the skin have healed already? How will I know if I can wear the cheaper earrings? Should I have stayed wearing posts longer? This is my first piercing ever. I have one in each lobe. I appreciate any help.
Thanks.

After 7 weeks, they shouldn't bleed. You may have taken them out a little too early. Leave the hoops in for a couple of weeks at least. Keep the holes clean and use an antibiotic ointment like Polysporin every day. Don't even think about wearing cheap earrings. They could have nickel in them, which would irritate your earlobes. If not gold or gold-plated, try sterling silver or at least surgical steel posts.

Ok, well i have 9 piercings in my ears so far so i think i can help. First of all, some bleeding is ok... but only small amounts. It shouldn't bleed EVERY time, if it does maybe you're alergic to the earing post or the skin is being punctured too much. If it bleeds and feels sore try leaving the earings in for a little while until the soreness goes away a little(and if there's swelling, when that goes down too.) You might be able to know if you are able to wear cheaper earings by the color and your reaction. Sometimes it's normal for the earing hole to look a little greenish, that's how the post will react for a little while. If it continues and turns reddish or sore again, there may be an alergic reaction. You may want to keep wearing studs a little longer if there is still bleeding and soreness, just to get more used to it, especially since it's your first piercing ever. After a while try changing to hoops or something and see how it works, just be careful not to get your hair caught or pull on them too much(you know the basics.) Also, you might want to try to keep putting on Peroxide or the ear care stuff they give you when getting your ears pierced(pretty much peroxide) and keep turning them. It should help. Hope i helped a little!

I had sooo much trouble with my ear piercings. Its probably because your ears arent healed completley. the best thing to do is find a good pair of sterling silver studs (or your originals) and put them iin for a few more months twisting about every other day. good luck and be patient. it will work out in the long run.

I got mine pierced about 2 months ago and I took them out overnight and then I tried putting them back in and they bled. I would say keep your original studs in for two weeks each time after they bleed to help them heal. also put the cleaning stuff they gave you each night until it doesnt bleed.

It shouldn't bleed, but it doesn't necessarily mean they're infected; especially if you've been taking proper care of them.

From experience, I haven't found it easier to sleep in hoops. But whatever works for you.

Hope this helped.

That isn't normal, were they cheap earings? The cheap ones can hurt sensitive ears, if I buy cheap earrings, they start to bleed.
