This is a serious question, not a joke...I've found a tampon in his bed and the last time, one must have fallen out of his pocket because it was on my living room floor...Of coarse, he denies that the tampons are his...Should I be concerned? I'm his grandmother. Only those with sincere answers need to respond..

Normal curiousity perhaps.

I love this question to me it is like a crime that you needed to solve.
heres the deal if you found one on the floor do not assume that it feel out of his pocket unless you no that it did.IF you no that it feel out of his pocket you would of caught him in the act but of course this is not at all true it did not fall out of his pocket at all here by making the question why was it in the middle of the floor. He would of not put it there himself..... of course this means that it was put there by some one else . Some one in the house must have access to the tampons other then him since you are his "grandmother" maybe this could also mean that you are have gone through menopause which means some one else would have had the tampon there>>>> must be another girl around the house or must have come in the house to have put the tampon there for there is no reason for a 14 boy to have a tampon NO MATTER WHAT!! i have been there i would not touch that thing...esp if it was my grandmothers so there fore most likely there is some one else in this story a ***little prank ster who put the tampon in your grand sons bed and in the middle floor so you would find it*** or other conclusion a girl was over at your house and left it there but that has a low percentage of probality.-

Sounds like some kind of a silly game played by high school boys. They are harmless, unless he is allergic to them.

Maybe some were left lying around on the ground and he just picked a couple up. Or maybe boys were throwing them at each other. Boys that age will throw anything at each other with the slightest excuse, if it is not sharp or hard.

There is probably no "common" answer to your question. But it is hard to imagine any really horrible incident that would have put a couple tampons in his possession.

Also, it is possible that one of his friends brought them over and was goofing around, and your grandson never even technically had possession of them or knew they were lying around the house.

Wow, I can understand your confusion. I looked at the other answers you have received so far and all of them have definite validity. The fact that one was in his bed, though, makes the supposition that his friends were playing a joke on him seem implausible. I mean, why would a guy take a tampon to bed with him? I mean, I hate to go here...but is he sexually active? Is it possible that he was intimate with a girl that (just maybe) took out a tampon before they had sex....(I mean this could explain the tampon in the bed)....or do these still have the wrappers on?

Something is very, very wrong there. I am trying to google the reason. There is a drug use for the cotton in tampons, but I do not remember what. He is not carrying those for a would be girl friend.

Heroin.

Frankly I doubt your grandson is into it, you would notice a lot more signs than a tampon.

I have to agree with the others. It is sort of a curiosity for him. Er, one would assume the tampons were not his.

He is on the border of things, keep an eye on him. But my bet would be he is showing a natural interest for things he does not yet understand.

Good luck my lady.

Ok...I am assuming that this is a wrapped tampon.....maybe he has some sort of curiosity about them....
But, a more realistic perception is that he has a girlfriend and they belong to her. You might want to ask your grandson if he has female visitors when you are not home. This is most likely the case, and in a sense he would be telling the truth when he says that they are not his.
This might be a good time to have the talk about not having company when an adult is not home, and safe sex.
Good Luck.

POSSIBLITIES:

1. morbid curiosity
2. comapring it to his penis (size and/or girth).
3. using the wrapper to roll a joint
4. holding it for a girl
5. found it & does not know what it is
6. to put it in his @$$ (gay curiosity)
7. a girl was in his bed and left it there by mitake
8. a girl was playing a joke on him
9. to hide drugs or cigarettes in the applicator
10. for parts (like cotton or plastic tubing)
11. artwork or junk-art
12. to have one in case a girl needs one
13. he wishes he was a girl
14. who the hell knows.

When people (usually GIRLS/WOMEN) go to concerts, they hide drugs in a tampon wrapper or tampons cuz you can re-wrap a tampon wrapper. You can also roll a joint w/ a wrapper but I'm not sure how many 14 year old boys (or 14 year old girls) would know about that. Numbers 1, 2, and 7 are likely for someone that age.

When I was 14 and in the beginnig throes of the effects of testosterone, I was fascinated by anything that had to do with those mysterious creatures, girls. Furthermore, because tampons are things "forbidden" for boys to have, it only enhances the fascination with them. I recommend having a talk with him and answering his questions about sex, girls, life, the universe, and everything.

Honestly, I don't want to sound like a freak or anything, but when I was young I didn't really know what tampons were, but they did kinda fasinate me. Maybe he just doesn't understand what they are and how they work so he's just keeping them around to study them. I wouldn't be worried, he's only 14, he doesn't understand things like that yet.

First of all, Philosophy for your catergory? Umm, okay. Well when I was 14 I knew tampons existed, but was baffled by what they did or what they were for. I tore apart several trying to get to the bottom of it. Then someone explained it to me, and I never wanted to mess with them again. You should try this approach, the one where you communicate with the child before judging him.

I can't tell you how many times I used those little buggers for great pranks! Not to mention, everyone gets curious about unfamiliar things at some point. So my advice, unless a wee bit of priceless mischief or curiosity concerns you, then you need not worry at this point.
