this song has been haunting me for so long now. i want to know the meaning of it but cant quite get it out in words. tell me what u think the meaning is. u know like the messeg.

I can imagine that it could be haunting.
The woodpecker wishes for something that could actually make him dinner for the wolf (falls off the soft bark if he had it)
Be careful what you wish for? Hmmmm. This one does make you think...

Well if the bark on the trees was as soft as the sky, the woodpecker would be able to get his meals without such a headache. The wolf is crying because he is hoping for something to pass by for him to eat, he is also lonely, so he would probably welcome another wolf or two.
It's all about having an easier, more comfortable and love filled life..... If only we could have it.
It's in the movie Holes... every character was wishing for something they did not yet have....

I think its about being lonley. The wood pecker sighed. He was the only one in the tree. He could be an oddball out or something. And the wolf cries to the moon, hes also lonely. What i think it means considering the animals mention are complete opposites is that no matter how big or how small you are you still get lonely. Wether your the hottest or the ugliest of them all. Everyone feels lonely at one point or another. If only if only they could have someone there with them. If only if only they had someone to talk to. Well thats what i think it means. I could be completely wrong though.

i first was aware of this song when i read it in the book, Holes by Louis Sachar. I think it communicates a feeling of wanting, of needing. Its really a beautiful song and the way it communicates feeling is amazing.

i think it means that like if only he had someone or something and hes lost and he wants comfort and love. then again i dont know, ive never heard the song and im just going by what i interpreted from reading it!

The artist is bemoaning the fact that everyone wants what they cannot have. And the singer wants a lost love that will never be.
