Yahoo! Answers was migrating to a new server. Thus the planned downtime from Sunday to Monday. "Running out of ink" is a euphemism they chose to use in place of a long boring explanation you could otherwise read on the Yahoo! Answers 360º blog.

No. They were just letting everyone know in a creative way, that the site was down for updating/maintenance type things.

on thie blog it says the database was growing too large for the server and had to move it to a new one.

they keep fixing it until it is almost useless
to bad this "WAS" a fun place, but not so much so now :-(
