why cant people accept that socialism is a dead concept it worked in the victorian times when people knew what poverty was but not now. globalisation and capitalism is the only way the world can go know and the last vestiges of socialism died with the ussr it has proved to be a good idea in theory but not in practice and no-one now lives in what could be termed as poverty even the poorest of our nation go to macdonalds or burger king at least once a week so in summing up the worlds not as bad a place as do-gooders would like to have you believe and capitalism is the only way to move forward

You need to understand the difference between socialism and communism. There are several socialist and quasi-socialist countries that are highly successful in the world today (market socialism).

The problem is WE do not have capitolism! The rich have bought and paid for our elected officials. The rich deny the less well off access to the money for true capitolism. To have capitolism you must have access to the capitol in order to build your future. There are exceptions to the rule of capitol a few manage to get rich with unconventional means. By and large to become rich in this country you need access to major capitol. It takes capitol to build factories, businesses, develope new products(R&D), even to build homes. Just you try to go and find any major capitol. What you will discover is the rich wind up owning your idea and you get squat! Most major inventions take 50 years to get to the market and 20 years is all you can get for patent rights. After 20 years anyone (thats the rich) can take your idea and you get nothing. Before the 20 years is up the rich only will give you .01c for every dollar you spent to get your patent. I know I'm in this box right now! www.permanentenergy.com show a pollution free electric power plant. The best offer from any source( investors, utilities, I got nothing from the Gov.) has been .01c an hour or on the dollar for all my work and effort. Even a bank vice-president has not been able to do any better than I have. The auto companies killed the family of the 200 mile to the gallon carb inventor, the invetor of intermitent windshield wipers died broke but Chrysler used his invention without paying him sqat, and there are many many more. Smokey Unick a big time stock car builder in the 60's designed an engine that made 250 hp from 1.5 ltrs. and got over 50 mpg. He made a deal with B&M to build and sell engine to the public. But a big co bought B&M and another big co bought the co that bought B&Mand this happen several more times. Now NO co has any agreement to sell this engine to anyone. The engine design sets somewhere and WE will never see it. This was in Popular Mechanics years ago. This is NOT capitolism this is croneyism! This is what the rich, the Demos and Repubs the rich have bought and paid for, have done to our once great nation!

Words, its just words. Do you want privately owned highways? Do you want privately owned rivers? A couple of years ago an unbankrupted subsidiary of Enron bought the water supply of Argentina, then it raised everybody's rates 400 %, and the whole economy collapsed. Life savings--gone. Businesses, banks--gone. Just so some well connected pigs in the US could get even richer. Capitalism is great where it works well, I am all for it. But it obviously does NOT work in health care, we NEED socialized health care. People love socialism! They love municipal golf courses, skate parks, freeways, they love being able to go to a socialist beach and not pay anything for the privilege of doing so. Don't get hung up on mere words, reality is what matters. Capitalism where it works, socialism where it works. Otherwise you are screwing yourself totally needlessly.

You need to take a trip into the inner city. You might see things a little different, but I doubt it, Capitalism is just pure greed. The American dream is slipping farther and farther off of the earth. The separation between the rich and the poor is getting farther and farther apart. With the middle class shrinking almost daily.

Capitalism is the original idea, and it seems to work fairly well.
