One of the bad thing to do is to go to a social worker because one they dont do anything about it except call the parents, and two your friend could get really mad. You should try to get her to go to a meeting with you to help teen suicidals. If she refuses to go then comfort her a lot and remind her that you're there for her and that people care about her. I was depressed and wanted to kill myself and the funny thing is i didnt realize i was so bad until i got out of my state and was on medication. Im still on medication and it works really well. I am so much more happier. Have her mom bring her to a doctor and have her take a depression test. Also about the drugs, tell her parents because if they're responsible they will take them away and regulate her. Also if you see her doing drugs take them away no matter how hard she fights. Dont forget to always be there for her in her biggest times of need. Lastly, about the cutting, i dont know what to do about that. I used to cut myself too, but nothing could stop me from doing it. I wish I could be more helpful, but maybe you can call a help line like the other guy said.

Tell your parents and her parents. If the school social worker didn't help, there are other adults you can go to. Talk to a teacher or principal at school to get help to her. These self-destructive behaviors are a big deal.
I don't know your religious background, but I am a Christian and I would tell her what Christ has done in my life. He has made me whole and happy.

This is not really an internet problem. Call your local crisis team. only your friend can help herself. if she is under 18 their are some things that here in california that can be done. there is something called a 72hr hold if a person is deemed a harm to themselves or to others and taken to a local (the closest open) Psyc hospital.

Tell someone NOW! Never take a threat or talk of killing ones self as nothing. You must tell her parents, your parents, and have your friend call a help line or call one yourself. She is reaching out to you. Get her help fast!

Tell her that she has a lot to live for and there are people who care about her and that there is no reason to kill herself or put her life in danger.
