If you hit a deer, your car and the deer are probably going to be pretty messed up. Call 911 first, if there was a need for animal control to be involved, the dispatchers can handle that. I live in Vermont- lots of deer, trust me on this. Of course if you hit a deer, it dies, and you're okay, call a friend with a pickup truck and have venison BBQ. Actually, that would be illegal. Although, you can ask for the carcass....sometimes they let you have it.....

First thing is to see if you could help the poor animal, at the same time, check that everyone is OK and check the damage to the car and most importantly, make sure you, your car, the passengers and the deer are all clear of the road, so another car won't come along and plow into you, then call: 911, they will direct you to the proper authorities!

If your hurt, call 911. If the deer is still alive, you can call animal control, but it will not help too much. If your car is disabled, you need to call a tow truck. Otherwise, just leave the deer there and call your insurance, that is if you want them to pay for any damages, when you get to a rest stop.

Well it is usually best to call 911 and contact the police so that a police report can be made for insurance purposes. Your insurance company will want to see that if you put in claims for damages caused by the deer.

Old school is right, probably depends on where you live, but we call the sheriff's department, and if you want the deer, they will report it to the conservation department so you don't get in trouble for processing (cleaning and packaging) a deer out of season. If not, lots of times they will donate it to food pantries.

Depends where you live. Here we call the police. If is a clean kill, they ask you if you want it. If not, they call the next person on the list. Free food, if you will.
