I'm having some pressure in my vaginal region and really bad tailbone pain when i sit... could this be a sign of possible dilation? Are there any other signs of slight dilation?

Yes this can be an early sign of labor. If you find you need to pee more often (as if at eight and a half months you aren't peeing enough already) or lose what looks like brown/ pink mucus, it could be the plug from your cervix. Also, be on the look out for braxton hicks contractions or even a trickle feeling... like your peeing your pants, but don't feel like you have to go. No everyone has their "water break" but some do experience just a slight draining instead of gushing.

Sounds like your too close and not in comfort. Sorry, Ive been there. I suggest calling your Doctor even if you only reach the exchange (answering service) leave a message for your MD or the on call MD and tell them your symptoms. Also, like someone else mentioned be aware of any fluid leaking, especially after your mucous plug is expelled.

Nipple stimulation does help instigate labor and so does sex especially an orgasm it causes the uterus to contract and semen also softens the cervix..

Best of luck any congratulations in advance..

yes, this is a sign when youre near the end. have the doctors number ready. to stimulate the onset of labor. touch your nipples, then you'll know if this it. if this doesnt work you're safe for a couple wks. good luck
