I do not think that people in general hate the Welsh. Just some English. I have met quite a few Scottish people who love the Welsh also Irish .
Everyone in the US are fascinated by the Welsh as they can not believe there is such a small country.

I'm not anti-Welsh but... I've visited Wales for years and a lot of times have felt unwelcome. They have started speaking Welsh in my company (which being in the company of someone English speaking is rude). Come on ... most Welsh people speak English. They teach Welsh in Welsh schools which proves English is the main language.
Don't forget also, if some English people moved into Wales about 20 years ago their homes were torched because they only wanted Welsh people there. Welsh people can move to England (and Ireland and Scotland) without a problem. I used to be a conveyancer and there were a few places in Wales where only Welsh people could own properties or they were charged a penalty. Just join the UK and don't have a problem with us others. If you want to live with us then don't condemn us living in your country. I didn't even know you were Celtic. I just thought it was Ireland and Scotland.
I've just remembered something... A few weeks we were in a large group in north Wales. At the end of the day a lot of us went to a pub in north Wales just for a quick drink. We weren't involved but some from our coach got so much abuse (blatant abuse) I couldn't believe it. They were so hateful. This woman was in a wheelchair so no-one would have a go at her but the company she was in was having a good laugh about it. Sorry, but from this experience and a lot of others, I think you are prejudiced against English. Don't know about N. Ireland and Scottish - can't comment on that due to no experience.

A lot of English dislike the Welsh ( that is the North Welsh) because they tend to keep their own language which they are rightly proud of. The South Welsh on the other hand are far more Cosmopolitan, one thing that the North and South of Wales are united in is an extreme dislike of the English (also rightly so)
When I worked in (South) Wales I was always amazed at the fantastic atmosphere whenever a rugby match was played between Wales /Ireland or Wales/Scotland it was great.
Whenever they played England it was a different matter altogether, no 'crack' from either side , the English are a bunch of toffee nosed Pratt's!! The question should be why do people hate the English!!

Generally the Welsh people are very nice. My two daughters were born in North Wales and we lived in North Wales for 6 years. However, there were quite a few occasions when local Welsh people changed from speaking English to the Welsh language when strangers appeared. I did not think it was polite thing to do.

The Welsh also hate the English, the Scots hate the English and the Irish hate the English. This hate is not on a personal level. It all stems from history. The English were or should I say are invaders. So the resentment is on a historical level. This historical resentment I believe still exists today.
The English also hate the French..and the French no doubt hate the Engliase..

People hate the Welsh? I didn't know people had strong feelings about the Welsh one way or the other. It's not like you're all that controversial.
