my brother is a weight lifter and ended up at the hospital a few days ago...he couldnt move his arms and could barely walk. he was diagnosed as haveing Rahbdo Milosis, but I cant find anything on it via the net. all i know is that it causes waste material to build up in the muscle.

that's because its spelled rhabdomyolysis. basically the muscles break down for various possible reasons. it can cause kidney damage from all the muscle proteins being in the blood if its bad enough. its him its probably weight lifting related, its also a serious side effect of cholesterol lowering medications (statins like lipitor, crestor, etc.) which could be the cause if hes taking any of those

i dont know enough about your situation or the condition in general to tell you how well to expect him to recover, long term effects, etc. but i would guess he could make a full recovery maybe have some kidney damage (but it takes a lot of kidney damage before your lifestyle is impaired)

ill be the copy and paste jerk that just posts wikipedia
