I had the same questions when I had my newborn. He is 1mth and 2 weeks old. I asked my Doc. and she said he can go out now if I wanted to take him out. She just said to try to avoid places were there is a lot of germs. Like Chuckee Cheese and loud places too. You would feel much better once you start going out too. I know it help me out a lot. My son seems to enjoy it and he is actually getting use to the outside world. Can't shelter them forever right. Just make sure they are comfortable and careful from the sun since babies skin is more sensitive then ours.

That is kind of tough. I don't think there is any exact answer, so I'll tell you what my doc said and what I did with mine.
The doctor told me to avoid taking my daughter out for at least the first month or so. But she also said that life still needed to go on and if you need to go to the grocery store, or run to the mall, then go for it. Just try to go places when they are least busy and really avoid people touching all over the baby.
I personally took my babies to the mall (mid-day weekday when it was pretty dead), drug store, and the grocery store. I just made sure my outings were short and infrequent.
I definitely wouldn't confine myself to the house because you have a newborn, but keep in mind that their immune systems are weak and they do need to be sheltered a bit. I actually have a friend who was taking her 3 week old to a public pool in the heat of the summer. (Crazy!!!) Basically just use your common sense. You will be just fine.

We waited until my son was 4 wks to take him out but we tend to be paranoid. When we did start taking him out we went to the beach and the movies and he has been perfectly fine! There really isn't much harm in taking your baby out provided you don't let people touch her to avoid too many germs and you should be fine! If she was a preemie or if she has already gotten sick then don't but some fresh air is probably good for her. But try not to overstimulate her or you will have a fussy baby on hand! Go show her off! Have fun!

I think the best is to wait a couple weeks after birth. But if you have to run to the supermarket, pharmacy, etc, I wouldn't worry about taking the baby out. Just make sure to keep him/her warm!
I have a three week old and she's already been out a couple times.

We took my son to the doctor when he was one week old and took him out for his first walk when he was 2 weeks old (and this was in January). He's five months now and loves to go anywhere!
I think your daughter will be fine as long as you take the proper precautions and make sure she is clothed well enough. My husband and I took a course before we had our son and the nurse said that when you take your baby out they only need to have as much clothes as you have on (i.e. in winter 2 layers (clothes and jacket) and in summer 1 layer). It's a good rule and it's worked well for us. Good luck!

As long as she's healthy, take her out whenever YOU feel up to it! I had to take my daughter on a 2 hour car trip when she was only 5 days old! It went just fine. I had to get out because I couldn't stand being cooped up in the house! I don't have any idea why people say you should wait...as long as she's healthy, it's fine!

I had my daughter Sunday morning, on Tuesday of that same week I was taking her places to show her off. I felt great after having my baby. I took her to the store, to my old high school, to friend's houses, and to meet the rest of the family. Anywhere that i went, I took my daughter too.

I can't imagine taking a newborn out so early; guess I'm old fashioned! We waited until our first son was several weeks old, I couldn't see the rush in exposing him to all those germs so early.

The next day because it wont do harm to the baby it's just that the mom shouldn't go out until 6 weeks later b/c they need rest, the baby can actually go out the same day.

My 2nd being pregnant became a marvel. My son became 11 months previous as quickly as we found out. Do I desire we could have waited longer? confident, in some methods I do. I desire he would have been potty knowledgeable and speaking extra perfect previously my daughter became born, yet now that it particularly is a certainty, i would not exchange it for something.
