There are various factors that can lead to sleep deprivation. It may include hormonal control, beverages such as alchohol, caffeine, emotional status, weight (overweight have problems sleeping), external factors such as noise, grief, dreams and many others. Well, if it's sleep apnia, that's because you have difficultly breathing while you are asleep, this is caused by obesity, the weight of the belly is too much for the diaphram and you have to try harder for a breath. If it's caused by insomnia, then it's can be caused by a variety of reasons. Stress, or anxiety, is the leading cause of insomnia in most adults. It can be caused by depression, or mania as well. There are other causes of sleep deprivation, including heartburn, which can be caused by Acid Reflux disease, or just a bad supper. You could also be going to bed with an empty stomach, now I don't suggest that you eat until you are full because this can cause discomfort as well, just a light snack before bed. It can also be caused by a snoring partner, I suggest giving them those nifty nasal patches to open up breathing passages, or a little proceedure that removes the ball at back of your throat. It can also be caused by having very sensative ears. I suggest a fan if this is your problem, it doesn't have to be pointed at you, it's there to create white noise, which will help block out other sounds around you. I hope this answers your question.
