Turn off the heater and do a partial water change with -slightly- cooler water. Don't use cold water or you will shock the fish. Make sure you put all the usual detoxifying chemials in the replacement water.

you slowly change some of the water for cooler water but be careful because a sudden drop in temperature will contaminate the tank with ick.I usually started lowering the heater in the tank when it started getting warmer and then slowly got it to where I could turn it off with no fish loss. Tropical fish can usually stand fairly warm temperatures

Well if you have one, turn down the thermostat on the heater.
Another trick would be not to have the tank near a window. Sunlight will heat the water if allowed to shine on the tank.
If you need to take the temp down quickly, start adding some ice cubes to the water... not a lot all at once... just a few at a time so the fish can adjust to the change slowly.

What I do when my tanks start getting just a little too warm is use frozen bottles of water. You could use ice packs like you would use for a school lunch. Not only do they last longer then ice cubs but you dont have to worry about de chlorinated water in your tank.

During the summer my little brother will add ice cubes to his tank. He has a saltwater reef tank- live rock, crustaceans....
I have never done it- but I live in a sub-level, it's much cooler.
