Not necessarily regressing, more like changing. Each generation reflects the signs of the times and prior generations won't or can't realize the change and their hand in that change.
Times are changing. It's easy for one generation to deride another because people don't cope w/ change well - the older, the more set in their ways. Prior generations fail to realize the generation after theirs are not being shaped by their generation's psychosocial norms.
With each generation, the stakes escalate - alcohol, pot, cocaine, LSD, downers, X, prescription drugs, and now meth.
Taking it one step further: The truth hurts. Prior generations rarely acknowledge THEY'VE created the environment which shapes present and future generations. Each child is a product of the environment the ADULTS create.
Complaining about "a child out of control"? I always ask, "Who's at home parenting the child?"
Complaining about kids being materialistic? I always ask, "You do realize the ADULTS are the ones who knowingly market to kids right?"

When I was a kid, I was a true rebel and I 'am still a rebel, the difference is that when your young it doest matter, the music the feeling you hand with a group of gangsters or at church, your young your not thinking like a 40 year old, but as you grow you start to understand the young are 18 you are 40, you want to get it thur there head, take care of yourself because the end is near! When you get to 40 you want things that make no since when your 18 so have fun listen to the old, because what they are saying is take care of your future today, so life will be a little easier
I hope you understand yes it is regressing, but you young people have the power to change it and hopefully for the better for your offspring

I think society is in a decline now. People don't care about anything but themselves, the political and corporate world have gotten so greedy, as to take away the livelihood of so many workers (CEO pay, and outsourcing anyone?) ... companies like WalMart have doomed most unions, and a chance at a decent wage for middle class families.
So many people don't know how to spell, or do simple math now ... and worse, don't care.
There is no patience for anything that can't be had at lightning speed.
I guess only time will tell.

I personally do not think so. Heck I am too busy doing my own thing to worry about what this generation is doing anyway. I believe in the Bible and Jesus, so deep down no matter how painful it may be to watch the events of living in today's society unfold, I realize there is a PLAN, and it;s up to the new generation to carry on.

believe you me, this society is going strait to hell. i'm an optimist, as far as individuals go, but this society has no hope and will continue it's desent. in twenty years this country will be so violent that it won't be a safe place to raise a family.

That depends who you ask. There is good and bad in each time and generation, but an older person might focus on their experiences alone, so compared to today's culture, it might seem worse to them. (And so did their parents, and their parents, et cetera...)
