I was in a car accident and my knee smashed against the dash. I also broke my wrist. The wrist was the "imediate pain" so the knee wasnt noticed until after the fact. For the first two weeks after the accident my knee was black and blue, swollen and very tender. I was having no pain while walking so I didnt believe that it was broken-just badly bruised. 10 months after the accident I still have swelling. When I press the area I can actually feel the "swishing" from the obvious water retention. If I purposely try to make my knee crack-it will repeatedly. In other words if I am sitting on a chair and extend my leg repeatedly the knee will continue to crack. I have no pain while walking, however, my joint seems to feel "tired" after walking (exercise pace) for about 15 minutes. I can kneel on my knee with a little discomfort. What is goin on?

This could be caused by a bruised ligament, or you may even have a minor fracture. Now, I can't be sure, because you seem to have a bit of a tissue problem in that region. I suggest going to your doctor again, and have him X-ray it. You could have misplaced your kneecap, which could still be allowing plasma to be leaking into the region, even after ten months. If it's not really colored by the retention then there aren't any blood cells in the region. You could also have air on the knee, which can be the reason it is swollen. If it's air, it can still have liquid there as well, which could allow the feeling of swishing. Go to your doctor, because even if it is just water on the knee you need to be sure it isn't going to endanger your joint's health.

The cracking is probably ligements; but the other pain could very well be a tear in the miniscus of the knee. Your only bet to get to an orthopedic surgeon. He may have to scope the knee and remove the fluid.

I had swollen ft from sitting at a table in the course of my final being pregnant - I had my husband therapeutic massage my ft to support get the fluid out of my ft. It evidently gravitates on your ft, so rubbing it in an upward movement, up the calves is helping particularly a bit of. Soak your ft in cool water - epson salts support with that too. Eat healthful meals - hinder fried/greasy/processed/sugary/salty meals! Elevate your ft, sleep with them propped up. And be certain to drink A LOT of water!
