Greece is a paradise !
I suggest you to go to have your own opinion.
I will visit Kalymnos Island this summer.
I've also suggest Santorini (the best place I have never been), Rhodes, Crete, Corfu, Myconos, Mylos and of course Athens.
There are many reasons that I think that this place is a paradise:
Great history, many places to see, amazing blue see, beautiful islands, no hurricanes, no sharks, nothing to fear, very safe place (specially for women), friendly people and very very good food. Don't forget low prices!
See the links.
Gods weren't stupid, they have chosen Greece for their home country!

dear American guy I think you are a bit Hmm ...prejudiced?
I think you haven't a "right" opinion. You said "they drink too much!" according stats they are approx at the end to the chart of drinking in Europe, you said they eat unhealthy food" but Greek type food known as "Mediterranean food" is the best way to keep your health. Yes they smoke but not more than Americans. But they are kind and friendly too as anyone else in the world.
Athens is crowded and polluted but not so much as Chicago or New York or Huston. But it has a great history and anybody can walk during midnight hours in the roads and he/she has been very safe (not as in American cities). Anyway that's your opinion, thanks for answering.

I'm American, but I actually lived on the Greek island of Mykonos last summer and was able to do quite a bit of traveling before and after, hang out with the locals, really experience the culture, etc.
I would say (if you're planning on visiting) to spend a lot of time on the islands. They are paradise on earth, practically all of them. Mykonos is the most expensive, Santorini is the most beautiful, Ios is the party island, Paros and Syros are a great mixture. And those are just the Cyclades.
I must admit though, I was dissapointed with Athens. Maybe if you go without expectations you'll be pleased...but, how could you NOT be excited to visit Athens!? Well, in all actuallity it's very hot, very crowded and polluted, it has that "big city" feel, but without the normal charm. I would recommend staying just a couple of day to see the major sights, then move on.
The Greeks are lively people, similar to the Italians and Spanish cultures. "Una raca, una faca" goes the saying, "One face, one race." They're overlly dramatic, they drink a lot, smoke too much, eat unhealthy food and are passionate about (seemingly) everything. But doesn't that just make you love them?
Greek food is excellent...don't over-do the Greek salad thing, really try as much as you can. You won't be dissapointed.
All in all, I love Greece...my memories of living there are dearly, dearly cherished....and will NEVER be forgotten!

No difficulty. if you're planning to visit Greece and characteristic relaxing, do not imagine too a lot about it. no man or woman will harm you or take care of you badly. Many Greeks after all have studied in Romania.

I just wanna say that Athens is not that bad as you describe it here in your answers.Yes there is pollution but it's not too much!We have many archeological and medieval sites, many museums a great nightlife and there are some very nice parks and 5 hills-4 of them are full of trees (the fifth one is the Acropolis). You can have a walk in Dionysiou Areopagitou Street under the Acropolis hill and then stop for a coffe enjoying the view of the Parthenon in the sunset! You can also find one of the most beautiful cemetries of Europe here, the First Cemetry of Athens(or Proto Nekrotafeio Athinon in Greek). There is the well-known Athenian Riviera in the southern part of the city where you can swim in the crystal blue waters when it's hot.People are friendly,we accept to speak in english(but we are pleased if a tourist speaks a little greek to us!) and would help a tourist if we can do so.The metro is absolutely safe and clean. The best time to visit the city is November-March.

Go in Croatia where rich people go. Don't go to Greece, Syria or Chechnya where poor syndicalists make protests and die in riots!

It´s a great country - I have been there several times,
I´ve been to Corfu, Chalkidike, Meteora Monasteries, Kos, Kalymnos,...
Every place is unique in it´s own way but in general:
Greece has lots of culture (churches, monasteries, archeological excavations), nice mediterranean landscape, very friendly people, small islands, excellent food (especially the sweets available in "Sacharoplastias"), and the music is also great ...

The Aegean islands are great. Athens has a lot of interesting historic stuff, but crowded and polluted.
