You'll want to bring your own mommy nightie, this is way more comfortable than the gowns they have @ the hospital. You'll also want to bring your own shampoo and conditioner if you like a particular kind, and maybe even a body wash and a scrubbie. A small nightlight so that you won't have to use that terrible florescent one behind your bed. If you want your baby to use a particular brand of pacifier, have that ready. And last but not least, have baby's going home outfit washed and ready. Just wear materinty clothes home, they will be more comfortable, don't expect to fit into your regular jeans, your tummy will be tender. You might want a camcorder, you might not, personal choice to relive that moment. Bring a camera. Do not use your own maxi pads!!! The hosptial will provide ones that do not have a plastic backing, this is imperitave because you will have a HUGE wound in your uterus, using a non-breathable or plastic backed maxi could invite infection. Your doctor will tell you that you should use the hospital ones or ones like them for 2 weeks and to change often to avoid infection. And the hospital will give you special panties so you don't ruin your regular ones. Do not snack before the birth of your child, you could have a contraction and throw up, and breath in suddenly from pain and risk getting food into your lungs. Just wait, you won't starve in the mean time.

slippers
a robe or something to wear over the hospital gown ( so when you have visitors, you aren't hanging out because they usually give you a gown that opens in back and has slit In the front for breastfeeding
comfy clothes to go home in (your pre-pregnancy clothes still wont fit. you will most likely look as if you are still a few months pregnant)
any insurance cards or papers
If you like a certain type of Panty Liner, bring those. I hated the ones that my hospital gave me, they felt like diapers.
Clothes for your baby to go home it
A book or magazine. Your hospital might have DVD/VCR players in the room, so a movie or two.
I wanted a water bottle, because i was always thirsty, and i was too sore to get up and keep refilling a cup.
Chapstick, or lotion, if you are used to using it often.
Toothbrush, toothpaste, and supplies for the shower
Hairbrush, Hair ties, and some makeup. After the baby, you will probably feel a bit like crap

A outfit to bring baby home in, blankets for baby clothes for yourself, list of who to call, camera, pack a overnight bag for yourself (so you have all your necessary even though you will be longer than a day) and a full diaper bag. You need your car seat. By having a full bag for baby if you stop somewhere you will be prepared. Most hospitals give you a check list, just as for one… GONGRATS

At least one out fit for the baby, might want to take two different sizes, baby socks, ect...
You will need very little until you get ready to go home, but you will want a gown and robe, they usually have you walk up and down the hall to get your strength back the next day, some slippers, underwear, and water every you are going to wear home. You might want to take a camera, or video camera, you tooth brush, hair brush, if your up for make up and going to have picture made, depends that part on you.
If you forget something, I am sure your family will bring it to you the next day, or the day the baby goes home with you...

about 4 pairs of old underwear that you dont mind having to throw away, a hair tie, brush, toothbrush, deoderant, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, face wash (if you use it), a pair of slippers, a camera, an outfit to bring baby home in, a blanket for baby, (you shouldnt need diapers or anything like that, the hospital usually provides it). some change for vending machines, some snacks for your coach. some say to bring a magazine or something to read, i brought that and never even looked at it, i was either sleeping or busy with the baby. good luck.

Pretty much anything you'd bring to a hotel you staying at for a couple days- clothes, shoes, slippers, bath robe, your own pillows or blanket if you have a favorite, face wash, tooth paste/brush, shampoo/conditioner, etc. I'd bring snacks because though the hospital will have plenty of food, they may not have what you'll feel like. Bring hand sanitizer because all kinds of people will be wanting to meet the baby and hold him/her, and you want to make sure they're germ-free! When my mom had my little sister she brought a CD player and her relaxation CDs. She played them while she was in labor and giving birth. It helped as much as it could, I guess. lol And of course, bring anything you'll need for your baby!

just relax and get your mum to worry about that you hubby wont know what to pack.
you will need lots of underwear, maternity pads, two pairs of p.j's, hair band and brush, shampoo, a pair of clothes to go home in for u and bub, a few nappies because some hospitals ( like the one i went to) only give u a certain amount. that should be it unless u want a book toread or something.becoming a mum for the first time is so exciting all u will want to do is hold ur baby, and watch him while he sleeps. good luck oh take tooth brush and paste aswell

If it's a c-section, you'll want to bring extra things to do, since you will be in the hospital a bit longer. A comfortable robe, pajamas, nursing bra, a comfortable pair of slippers...a few books, a book light, anything that you could do to keep yourself entertained in a hospital bed. The normal stuff, like shampoo, toothpaste/brush, deodorant, hair brush, camera, extra film if its not digital, extra clothes, a radio, and most important...your husband/significant other.
