Restoring to an earlier date is usually ineffective. This is due to hidden files and restore point being infected by the Malware you have on your computer. Go to this windows site and it will walk you through the proper procedure for removing the infection.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/bugbusting.mspx
If it is being caused by a virus instead of spyware, then use the same procedure with your Anti-Virus program.
If infections are removed, be sure to use one of the two Registry repair programs she lists. Many times the removal of Malware will damage the registry. The repair program will repair it.
If this does not do it then go to this site and make a post. Pay particular attention to: onemjc, trueorient, rattler243, jibberjabber. There are a few others that give good advise, I just can't remember their handle.

The spyware/adware is already on your pc; thats how you get the fake warning flashing at you. You need to turn off system restore and do a complete spy scan. As long as system restore is on the files will keep re-installing themselves. Turn it back on and set a fresh system restore point when you are sure your system is clean.
Microsoft have two free online scanners that look for malware.

You can also download Microsofts free Windows Defender from the official Microsoft site.
The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

Spywareblaster works with Internet Explorer. It won't uninstall spyware that is already on your pc, but it will prevent hijacks and other malicious changes to I.E.

Shut down computer and start again in safe mode, that is gained by repeatedly hitting f8 whilst it is starting. Select safe mode with networking, and then scan machine using AVG, also try with XP scan and perhaps another. If AVG finds one it will tell you and put it in the virus vault. If so go to virus vault and delete it. You really ought to run AVG 2 or three times, yes I know that sounds stupid, but you would be surprised, and it works.
France telecom were really surprised at what it will do when they came to my house, in fact their program would not work on this as their program is too old!!!!!

Ignore all of those things because they are scams. Try scanning with the best firewall you can get. You should also configure your pop-up blocker not to allow them. Some will still come through but as long as you ignore them, they usually have no effect.
