It does actually rain in Death Valley - often in the late summer/early fall (monsoon season). Not a lot of rain in the course of a year - but often a lot at one time.
Death Valley is home to the highest recorded temp in the US (134F - in the shade), dating back to 1913. It's desert location, and negative altitude contribute to the extreme heat.
Depends on the day and time ... and although the Sahara is probably hotter over all (after all the Sahara is an entire desert, and Death Valley is just one, tiny corner of the Mojave Desert) ... it can be hotter in Death Valley than in parts of the Sahara.
Death Valley is only home to the highest temperature in the US and North America. The highest temperature ever recorded in the world was 136 F at Al' Aziziyah, Libya in September 1922.

The Sahara Desert has the hottest summers on the globe. There is a large area which experiences a maximum monthly mean temperature over 38 °C (100 °F). Some of the hottest Saharan spots during the peak of the summer are Taoudenni - Agorgot (Mali); Adrar - In Salah - Reggane - Timimoun - Chenachane (Algeria); Agueraktem - Chegga - Crampel (Mauritania). I highly recommend you to regularly watch the weather forecasts for all these places, especially from June to September on this following site : www.weather.com
I didn't mention all the hot spots I know in the Great Desert, because the list would be way too long! Death Valley is also a hot spot during the height of the summertime, but I'll give you 3 reasons to think the Sahara Desert is overall hotter :
First, Death Valley is only a thin spot in the Mojave Desert compared to the much bigger area in North Africa that experiences summer averages at least as high as DV.
Secondly, Death Valley lies about 100 m below sea level, which makes it a kind of cheater because the temps normally decrease by taking height/elevation while the mentionned Saharan spots lie roughly between 200 m and 400 m above sea level and some of them gets hotter than DV.
Thirdly, Death Valley get cooler during winter than all these Saharan spots which remain much warmer, especially the Malian and the Mauritanian ones.

The Western Hemisphere's highest temperature of 134 F was recorded there (Death Valley) in 1913.
The all time world record temperature of 136 F was observed in Libya on September 13, 1922.
So, the answer is the Sahara Desert.

Actually, it does rain there, but Death Valley does have the hottest temp in the world. If you want to feel hotter, you'd need to go up to an active volcano.
