actually anything you buy, whether with your first dollar, or pound, or rupee, or ruble and peso,,,etc, is pointless. It's pointless because its all self centered purchase which reflects the primary principle of loss,,,everything one purchases to cater to self is lost. Now, if a person is interested in maintaining the value of that same pound, dollar or what ever coinage is at hand, give it to a poor person, preferably a widow woman with children. Therein is an eternal investment. You never lose what you give to the poor. Sincerely.

I'm afraid it wouldn't be pointless but I would buy a vintage Rolls Royce vintage 1930-50's like the one I saw in a petrol station in Cambridge 2 years ago. This has always been my dream car.

I have to say that is a good question, most people who dream of having a million dollars spend time thinking of all the the things they could do to make their lives easier or their children's lives easier. I must admit i am one those people. Your question caught my eye, It took me some time to come up with the answer. Nothing is my answer , everything I would buy for myself or anyone else would have a purpose. Good Question!!!!
