HOLY CRAP I LOVE IT. And would you mind if I told others about your site? Hope you leave that site up for some time, I have it booked marked, and would love to give your site as a reference when I answer other peoples questions. I would comment on it ... but I think you covered it all. GREAT WORK! Very impressed!

Good job. I personally believe that the big problem here is establishment of religion, btw. This is not about religious versus secular. It is about religious versus religious -- with the secular government getting involved to "establish" the views of one set of denominations over another set. There are Christian churches and denominations that back gay marriage. There are Jewish synagogues and basically the whole of the Reform movement. There are the Unitarians, and most pagan groups, including the Correllian Nativist Tradition, which may well be the largest, and I believe, the Covenant of the Goddess (COG) which is the other contender for largest.

On the other hand are the Southern Baptists and Pentecostals leading the charge, along with the Ultra Orthodox Jewish sects and the Mormons -- against.

In the middle is much of mainstream Protestant Christianity, struggling with the issue and agonizing over it; and also Roman Catholicism, which in the Western world is nearly equally divided over the issue among its membership if not its clergy.

The position of the United States government over this largely religious disagreement SHOULD be to guarantee that no violence is used and that both sides are respected. No SB or Pentecostal minister should be required EVER to perform a gay marriage ceremony; and no UCC or UU minister should EVER be forbidden.

Otherwise, freedom of religion is meaningless.

I totally agree with all of your points (yeah i read them all). The big thing that gets me is when people say that gay marriage will ruin the SANCTITY of marriage. Why don't they realize that there is hardly any left. They ruined it when they got divorced three times.

I also think that their main argument has to do with religion, which is totally bogus. This shouldn't even be valid in our country. Are we not the counrty of acceptance and equality. If we are going to discriminate against same-sex marriage then we souldn't allow spanish marriages or re-marriages. Discrimnation is discrimination know matter how many ways you spell it.

It is a little disconcerting that GW wants to make marriage between a man and a woman a constitutional amendment. Today, you no longer even know if it is "politically" correct to say the pledge of allegiance, and what about all American money that says in God We Trust, should we give that up?

Well done, my son! You give a very persuasive arguement (with point/counterpoint issues) in a short space. Very well put together. It's too bad reason can't prevail most of the time. Bravo.

Thank you for the information.
It actually made a lot more sense than I expected it to when I first started reading it.
Unfortunately, there are always going to be people who oppose anything other than what they consider to be "normal".
