You see, in the underlying stuff (headers) it reports where the email came from. SpamCop reports it to the relevant Internet Service Provider (ISP) and they will follow it back, especially with email cons.
I haven't been a victim myself, but I know a little more than the average user about them. Make whoever sent the email pay.

Well, being me, I tend to send a message back that's something like this.
'Thank you for contacting me, and please, accept my condolences, for you, as well as Pete, Jeseph, Martin, Greg, Alan, Foster, Julia, Akav Hamad, Xi Quing, Gordon, and the roughtly 27 other men and women stranded at your current locale. I advise you, rather than trusting your money to a compleate stranger, to instead band together and
(contact your local embassy which will gladly transfer your funds for you/locate via Yahoo maps a sutable working establishment)
Me and messing around with people...

i got neither but i was sent the african bank con about ten times by different people who I SUSPECT WERE WORKING TOGETHER.
one of the times i just lost it and sent them an angry email and they didnt answer back until about three months later but it was a different guy so i got NO COMMENT
they have no backbone; I MEAN COME ON WHEN ONE OF THE GUYS YOU SEND IT TO ACTUALLY RESPONS YOU CANT GET OFF YOUR F#%KING @$$ AND EMAIL BACK; BUNCHA SCARED MORONS!
but i suggest just ignoring them like how i did with all the other ones i received who THINK I'M REALLY THAT GULLIBLE; TO THOSE OF YOU CON ARTISTS READING THIS: get a life

I don't know what you are talking about, but I am stranded in Phoenix Arizona and its over 110 degrees outside.
Can you please send me some money that I can use to buy a plane ticket to a cooler climate.
I promise to pay you back, please?
